Research
I am a research scientist at the Recovery Research Institute and Center for Addiction Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. My work has been recognized with grants from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA, the American Psychological Association’s Society of Addiction Psychology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and Harvard University. I have specialized scientific knowledge in the following areas:
The role of emotion and emotion regulation in the development and maintenance of addiction, particularly with regards to underlying psychophysiological processes.
Development of technology based solutions for the treatment of substance use disorders including wearable biosensors and smartphone based recovery apps.
