About
I am a clinical psychologist and researcher with expertise in substance use and borderline personality disorders. I completed my clinical residency and a postdoctoral fellowship in addiction psychology at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Harvard Medical School (HMS). Prior to moving to Massachusetts, I earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and a B.A. with honors in psychology from Columbia University in New York City.
I am licensed in Massachusetts (#10689) as well as New Hampshire (#1547) and Maine (#PS2394), and am board certified in addiction psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Currently, I see patients in the office on Tuesdays and via telehealth other days (i.e., a secure video link). A benefit of telehealth is that it allows some flexibility in terms of where patients can be located. At the same time, please note that due to licensing laws, patients must be physically in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, or Maine during our telehealth sessions.
Clinically, I have extensive experience treating individuals struggling with addiction, and borderline personality disorder. I am a staff psychologist at MGH’s adult outpatient addiction program, the West End Clinic, and previously worked with MGH’s Addiction Recovery Management Service, the hospital's outpatient addiction treatment program for adolescents and young adults. I also worked for several years on MGH’s Dialectical Behavior Therapy team, which focuses on the treatment of borderline personality disorder and other disorders associated with problems regulating emotions.
I believe strongly in meeting patients where they’re at and tailoring treatment approaches to individuals, but broadly speaking I work using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy frameworks. I am also trained in Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention, and am an expert in Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback. For those who are interested in twelve-step approaches, I offer Twelve-Step Facilitation. In my private practice I treat people 18+ who are looking to reduce or stop alcohol or other drug use. I also treat individuals with borderline personality disorder using Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
In addition to my clinical work, I am the Associate Director of Clinical Translational Recovery Science at the Recovery Research Institute at MGH, and an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at HMS. I investigate emotional and psychophysiological factors implicated in addiction, while also testing and developing cutting-edge, technology-based interventions for substance use disorder.
